but no agreemeent reached.
1980 United Nations called for full
independence.
1981 Full independence achieved. Price became
prime minister.
1984 Price defeated in general election.
Manuel Esquivel formed the government.
Britain reaffirmed its undertaking to defend
the frontier. 1989 Price and the PUP
surprisingly won the general election.
